Gimli is a prominent character in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novels. He is a Dwarf warrior, son of Glóin, and a member of the Fellowship of the Ring.
His first appearance occurs in "The Fellowship of the Ring" during the Council of Elrond, where he is sent as a representative of the Dwarfs. He brings a warning from his people to the council.
